What you probably want is oldconfig. Going on Google and https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/2/12/1084, there might be quite a lot of scripts and the like that call silentoldconfig. Alternatively, it could call through to syncconfig and also generate a warning that it's about to removed (like for olddefconfig). Cheers, Ulf
